New yarn and a not so finished project

So this was going to be my Ravolympics project – the saddle shoulder sweater (which I’m steeking and turning into a cardigan) in Knitting Without Tears. Well I didn’t so much complete it, by the time the Olympics were over I was done with the body and about half way done with one sleeve. as [...]

Yarn and a hat

The sweater yarn is done! All one and a half pounds of it. It ended up being 1087 yards and it knits up to 5 sts per inch on a US7.  I’m going to use it for Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Seamless Saddle Shoulder Pullover for the Ravelympics. Now the real challenge is waiting until the Olympics [...]

Sick but still knitting

Or at least I’m still taking pictures of knitting and food (the food will have to wait for the Daring Bakers and Daring Cooks reveal days though. This past week I went to Twisted and got two skeins of DIC Classy, one in Shiny Moss and the other in November Muse, to knit Stephen West’s [...]

New cooking blog and sock summit

So I’m totally fried right now but I told a few people that I’d post tonight so I figure I should maybe live up to that tonight. I was hoping that this post would be somewhat short, but from the looks of the title I just wrote, it’s gonna be a little lengthier than I [...]

I’m a day late for posting with Daring Bakers this month but such is life I suppose. The May Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Linda of make life sweeter! and Courtney of Coco Cooks. They chose Apple Strudel from the recipe book Kaffeehaus: Exquisite Desserts from the Classic Cafés of Vienna, Budapest and Prague by [...]

What I’ve been up to

I’ve been really bad about posting lately (suprise suprise) so finally, this morning, I decided to take the time to take some pictures of what I’ve been up to as of late. The socks above are the Barber Pole socks that have been on the needles for about a month now. They could have been [...]

Socks and such

My life has been a bit stressful lately which is the main cause for my lack of frequent posting, but I have still been doing fibery stuff.

I got a three pound babydoll south down fleece last week from the same woman I got my last south down fleece from. This one is really really nice. [...]

Snow and socks

This is what happens when it’s too gross outside for me to want to go outside and take the ever popular “sock in the snow” picture. Instead I decided to perch the second sock on a snowy branch outside of my window (the yarn coming from it leads into my room). As I implied, the [...]

Socks, socks, socks!

More progress has been made on the Houdini Sock that I blogged about the other day. What makes this sock different from any of the other ones that I’ve knit is that you knit the entire foot in one entire piece, decreasing for the heel at and kitchenering at the end. Oh Cat Bordhi, how [...]

I survived my first week back

I’m here and it’s absolutly freezing but I’m back at Sarah Lawrence. I came back to snow and ice and an incomplete week of classes (thank you MLK Day) and while I now have a complete week of classes, there’s still snow and ice on the ground, it’s still under 32F, we’re supposed to get [...]
