Best conference ever

dsc_0479-1-2-smaller

See that book – the Chez Panisse CafĂ© Cookbook. My philosophy teacher is loaning it to me for “as long as [I] want it”. I had conference with her on Friday (we meet with our profs every other week to go over our conference projects) and she was a bit late with another person and I saw it on her bookshelf and came in with it and asked if I could borrow it and her responce “ya know what, you can have it”. And then I got all excited and she looked through it some more and realized that maybe she wanted to cook some things out of it and told me she would loan it to me for as long as I wanted it.

After that we talked about food and knitting and spinning for 25 minutes and then talked about my conference project for 5. It was so wonderful. Oh and the hat that is sitting on top of it, its my single skein version of Jared Flood’s Turn a Square Hat. I knit it out of the AllSpunUp superfine merino I spun up in October. I was going to do the stripes (which sounds funny becuase the yarn I used is clearly self striping) out of the left over Woobu I have, but it ended up being just a hair too light weight and it was bugging me.

And with that I have to go run off and see a movie!

    Two things:
    1. LOVE the hat (I really need to make one for Steve)
    2. I’m going to steal your cookbook. Because you know, flying all the way to NY to steal yours is so much more economical than buying it at my local bookstore ;)

Ooh, I really like that yarn. :-)

The boi’s coming here to visit me for a few weeks (!!!) on Thursday, and I’ve promised to knit him a hat while he’s here, and he picked out this pattern… I’m excited to do it, even if it is only raglan decreases. ;-)

I’m still swearing like hell at my sweater and, after two failed attempts at what it was supposed to be, have decided that really, it wants to be a seamless hybrid instead. We’ll see how that works; I’m not entirely sure how to work the saddle in a different gauge since she gives a row count without any explanation of how you get there. -shrug- It’ll be an adventure in knitting, and I’d rather rip out a saddle than almost an entire yoke… for the second time.

I am still envious of your handspun, by the way. I’ve decided that I’m going to start asking for a spinning wheel at holidays, will never get one because they’re too expensive, and will therefore buy one as a graduation gift. Or with grad school loans. I am responsible!
